Why this page has no price column

Rental quotes at LAX change with season, car class, and how a partner bundles taxes. Los Angeles World Airports and the rental brands set airport-related charges. LaxRentals does not. I will not invent a daily dollar figure I cannot source for your exact dates.

What I can source are the labels that show up again and again on LAX agreements and on LAWA material about the consolidated facility: concession-related recovery, customer facility charge, taxes, and brand extras. The table below is a field guide, dated September 4, 2026.

Fee labels you are likely to see

Names vary slightly by brand (concession recovery vs airport concession fee). The job of the line item is usually the same. Amounts belong on the checkout, not in a blog table that goes stale.

How fees hide in a mobile quote

Comparison tiles often show a bold daily number and a quieter estimated total. Open the total. If you only screenshot the bold number, you will be surprised at the counter.

Prepaid rates can look lower because they are less flexible. A changeable rate can be cheaper after a delay if the prepaid one is non-refundable. That is not a fee label. It is still money.

Extras you tap on the partner site (GPS, child seat, prepaid fuel, roadside) sit on top. Child seats at LAX are worth having if you need them, but the rental-counter seat is rarely the cheapest way to travel with a toddler for a week. Bring your own if you can, or buy one in town and keep it.

Weekly math, extras, and a short checklist

A six-day rental can cost nearly as much as seven once airport-related lines are applied per day. If your flight home can move by a few hours, check the weekly total. The opposite also happens: an extra day on a cheap weekly can beat a second short rental later in the trip.

Prepaid fuel looks convenient after a long return on the 405. It is rarely the better math if you can fill a few miles off-airport. GPS units are optional when your phone has maps and a car mount. Child seats are not optional if you need them. Bring your own when you can.

Before you pay, expand every line, screenshot the total, and confirm mileage, fuel, and cancellation. If two partners are close, prefer the one whose breakdown you can actually read. A cheaper tile with a mystery bundle is not cheaper.

One more habit that saves arguments: screenshot the expanded total and the cancellation rule before you pay. If the counter later shows a different stack, you have a record. Partners make mistakes. So do tired travelers who remember a teaser rate from a push notification.
